Soft-spoken Ralph carried a big stick for AWA and really made his presence felt with a number of clutch hits throughout AWA's final season. Not a first baseman by trade, Ralph learned the position as he went, and by season's end the Coach wasn't sending in a defensive replacement in the late innings. That paid off as it was Frank's fine defensive play for the last out that gave AWA the 2000 league championship. Ralph had that opposite field hitting style going for him, and that translated into a solid .549 average for the year, among the team's best. |
