"Mikey" finally joined AWA full time in 1995 after having made a token appearance with the team in 1989. At that time he brought youth and speed to the AWA lineup. In the end he just brought beer money, which was fine by us. You could pretty much determine game time by the sight of Mikey running up from the parking lot. A versatile player, Mike could handle just about any position on the field, except maybe left field on Field 9 at Twin Creeks. He spent most of his AWA playing time in right field or at second base. "Mikey" had a knack for coming up in the bottom of the seventh with the game on the line -- and then delivering the game-winning hit. And he especially enjoyed doing that against rival Big Sticks, who considered him the most hated man in the AWA lineup. His best campaign was the '97 season, and, as the good-looking stud that he is, he had at least one internet fan floating around out there in cyberspace. |
